Computing at the beamline
General info
- Working at the beamlines requires an e-account in order to access
the private storage area
for experimental data.
- A connection to the PSI network is made via DHCP network setup.
See also the SLS computing page
"Clients on the PSI network".
Computers at the beamline
- Data aquisition: x06sa-cons-1 (pc6113).
x06sa-cons-1 hosts the data collection software
(server, gclient, marccd and remdaq)
and
the semi-automatic crystal alignment tool.
The files are saved on the fileserver. (No long-term storage!)
- Beamline control: x06sa-cons-2 (pc6421).
x06sa-cons-2 is mainly used
by local staff for beam conditioning and debugging.
As wavelength changes are currently not included into the data collection
software, on one virtual desktop an IDL shell is running the setE command
and horizontal and vertical beam position feedback.
- Data processing: pc3648.
This dual Xeon (2.4 MHz) can be used for both data processing and
analysis.
It serves also as terminal for the several number crunchers.
Number crunchers:
- x06sa-comp-1
- x06sa-comp-2
- x06sa-comp-3
- x06sa-comp-4
- x06sa-px-2
Computing nodes for PILATUS:
- x06sa-cn-1
- x06sa-cn-2
- ...
- x06sa-cn-8
- Dual boot media station: pc6676.
This media station can be used to connect portable USB
hard disks to the network.
Used for fast data backup under Linux.
- Windows XP media station: pc5099.
The Windows XP media station can be used to connect portable firewire
or USB hard disks to the PSI beamline network. It hosts two CD and DVD burners which
support all common media types. E-accounts can be mapped using the
Beamline Explorer. DLT tapes are no longer supported.
- firewire http server: pc5912.
- MD2 pc: pc6491.
The Windows XP pc is used for the control of the MD2.
