Getting started with your experiment

Working at the High Resolution Diffractometer (HRD)

  1. Login as user e10xxx at pc5099.

  2. The steps 2. - 5. can be performed by clicking on the UserPanel.
    Then proceed with step 6.

  3. Open a terminal window and start detector (MARCCD) software:
type: StartMar3 enter (note: case sensitive input)
    alternatively type: ssh e10xxx@marccd3 '.sls/X06SA/data/common/share/blcntl/marccd3_start'

  4. Open another terminal window on pc5099
    type: server_start enter

Wait until the server is ready for commands from the client, then

  5. Open a third terminal window on pc5099
    type: gclient_devpc5099 enter

  6. Open a forth terminal window
    type: alignment3

  7. Now you can change, if necessary, the standard settings of the beam stop

  8. or of the beam size and focus

  9. Read the current wavelength (energy)

  10. Change energy if necessary, using IDL.
In another window start IDL and type sete, value (in keV) or sete, value, /wave (in Angstrom)

  11. Press the enter the hutch button in the GUI

  12. Mount the crystal

  13. Press the leave the hutch button in the GUI

  14. Sample alignment and loop centering

  15. Adjust data collection parameters

  16. Take first image

  17. View data and process data on pc3507

Micro Diffractometer (MD2)

At step 2 do the following:

2. Open a terminal window and start detector (MARCCD) software:
type: StartMar2 enter (note: case sensitive input)
